Chelsea Transfer News – Updates on Alonso, Brozovic, Stefan de Vrij
1. Marcos Alonso
The 25-year-old Spaniard has emerged as a surprise target for the Blues. Conte sees the former Bolton defender as the right fit to his system. Predominantly a Leftback, Alonso can also be used as a midfielder, a quality Conte appreciates. The Real Madrid Academy Graduate played three seasons in England before leaving to Fiorentina.
The Blues are closing on a deal worth 21m pounds and Alonso may start his very first game for Chelsea, replacing Ivanovic from the fullback duties. Which means, another Spaniard in Chelsea squad, Cesar Azpilicueta will move to his original right-back slot.
2. Marcelo Brozovic
Antonio Conte’s wish to get an Italian styled midfielder in his team is finally happening. Marcelo Brozovic, a target of Italian Champions Juventus is just a signature away from being a Blue. Chelsea has reportedly agreed on a deal to sign the player with Napoli and just the personal teams with the player remain disclosed. Reports say Brozovic is delaying the deal as he expects more wages from the Russian-owned Londoners.
The deal is set to be worth 25m pounds and can prove to be a ‘steal’ if the Napoli man gives Conte the desired output.
3. Stefan de Vrij
Yet another Serie A player to be linked with the Blues ! Not surprising though. Antonio Conte is keen on players who have Serie A experience and Stefan de Vrij is the new player to join the list. The is one of the most promising centre-backs in Europe amid him missing an Entire season due to injuries. The Lazio defender will replace Zouma in Chelsea’s starting lineup as Conte plans to loan out the French.
Kurt Zouma leaving Chelsea is highly unlikely since the French has a name among the fans and his very impressive 2015-16 will make Conte think thrice before he decides anything. Zouma recovering from a leg injury may return to the starting XI after the International Break.
