Chelsea are in the hunt to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a replacement to Oscar who is probably leaving the Blues in the summer. The Armenia international is an important player for Borussia Dortmund and is arguably the best attacking playmaker in the Bundesliga.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk’s player signed for Borussia Dortmund in 2013 and ever since he is the undisputable center attacking midfielder. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored 13 goals and made 18 assists for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions this season. If the stats were for any other top league in Europe, let’s say in the English Premier League or in the Spanish La Liga, Henrikh Mkhitaryan would have been named as a ‘superhero’.

Mkhitaryan is a highly versatile player who can play anywhere in the middle of the pitch. Predominantly a Center Attacking Midfielder, ‘Micki’ (the BVB fans call him by the nickname Micki) can play as a left midfielder, right midfielder, or as a center midfielder. The 27-year-old can also play as a left forward or a right forward.

Mkhitaryan is a player who can dribble past the opponent with ease who also has great vision in the final third. His crosses played a crucial part in Dortmund’s attacking this season and his through balls are a real love to watch. In a simple quote, ‘Mkhitaryan is a complete attacking midfielder’ who can strengthen any top European team.

On the other hand, Chelsea are in need of a solid attacking midfielder to fill in the boots of Blues Legend Frank Lampard. Oscar, the current No.8 has not lived up to his potential level so far and is widely expected to leave the club in the summer. Chelsea are following a number of playmakers to partner Eden Hazard and Willian in the center and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the best choices Chelsea can have from the lot.

Borussia Dortmund just returned to Champions League football after one year as they are in the second place behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga points table and have no plans to sell their best attacker.
