Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois faces the axe as new coach Antoine Conte us reportedly preferring experienced English Premier League shot-stopper Asmir Begovic over the unsettled big Belgian.

Chelsea are planning a squad revamp after a very disappointing season and are even ready to sell a number of their star players. Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Oscar are the very first to go onto the transfer list but only a very rare set of fans would have expected Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois is undoubtedly one of the best Goalkeepers in the world right now and is just below Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer who is considered as the best of this generation. But the Belgian suffered injuries this season which ruled him out of the season’s first half. Asmir Begovic inspired the fans when he was given the chance and it is reported that Conte may prefer the Bosnian over the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper.

Real Madrid have shown initial interest in signing the Chelsea star, but the Los Blancos’ first choice goalkeeper replacement still remains with David de Gea. The Spanish capital side will come for Thibaut Courtois only if they can not price David de Gea out of Manchester United.

Courtois’ transfer fee is expected as high as 50m Euros which will give the Londoners more freedom in the transfer window. Chelsea will need to spend a lot in order to fix their current problems and an offer around 50m Euros for a Goalkeeper is impossible to turn down, even for a club like Chelsea who have enough financial powers to battle on the biggest stage.

Also, the Belgian lost a set of Blue fans’ belief after making a controversial comment about Chelsea’s defence this season but is still preferred by most of the fans. Chelsea may struggle to replace the big Belgian who is just 23 years old who has his most productive years yet to come. But considering Chelsea’s current situation, it will not be a surprise if they cash in on the player for a big money deal.
