The Chelsea defender who suffered a severe leg injury in February was unable to put his feet on the football ground for the last four months. And now, he is back. Kurt Zouma returns to Chelsea training: a new season can not start with a better news for the Blues. The French man was one of the very few players in the squad who played his best when the entire team played below their usual level. Barring Kurt Zouma, Cesar Azpilicueta and Willian, none of the Chelsea players have had a good season.
Kurt Zouma returns to Chelsea training after FIVE months
Zouma spent almost a whole season on the bench during the 2014-15 season when Chelsea won the English Premier League and the Capital One Cup. Zouma played a deputy role to Chelsea’s first choice defenders John Terry and Gary Cahill. During the summer transfer of 2015, it was expected that manager Jose Mourinho will allow Zouma to leave on a loan deal to prove his mettle. But, Mourinho kept Zouma and played him as his first choice centre-back ahead of Gary Cahill.
The English defender’s drop in form coupled with Zouma’s out of skin performances earned a permanent starting berth for the French defender. But the Good days did not last for long for Zouma as he suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in February while landing awkwardly after battling for an aerial dual. In the early days, it was informed to the Chelsea fans that Zouma will miss at least NINE months and will miss the first half of the new season.
Fortunately for the Blues, the giant man is back on his feet way before the estimated time schedule. Zouma was pictured training with the rest of the Chelsea squad under new manager Antonio Conte. Chelsea football club’s official twitter account posted a photo of the defender training with club captain and the senior most centre-back John Terry. The Captain also posted a picture on his official Instagram account featuring Kurt Zouma and the rest of the Chelsea squad after completing their first training season under the new manager.
Conte has just started to assess his players as he was busy with the Italian National Team. Kurt Zouma returns to Chelsea training and has just joined the team at the right time. Zouma’s return will boost the Chelsea defence to a significant level and it is expected that Zouma will be a vital part of Chelsea’s title hunt this season.
