Atletico manager Diego Simeone demands Diego Costa reunion at the Vincente Calderon and asked the club to sign him at any cost, reports Daily Star. Simeone is tipped to leave the Spanish side after the club’s heartbreaking Champions League defeat against local rivals Real Madrid. The Rojiblancos lost their second Champions League final in the last three seasons and both the defeats were against the same opponent. Real Madrid being the fierce local rivals to Atletico, the defeat is harder to take for the Atletico players and fans which also affected Diego Simeone.
Simeone played two seasons as a central midfielder for Atletico Madrid before taking over the manager role in 2011. Famously called as ‘El Cholo,’ Diego Simeone has developed a strong emotional bond with the Calderon crowd who were begging the Argentine to stay at the club after the recent Champions League defeat. Simeone expressed his frustration in losing his second Champions League final and did not commit his future to Rojiblancos in his recent interview.
“I am thinking that I have to start thinking. It’s a logical question for you to ask after a defeat like the one we’ve suffered today.”
“We had the chance to become champions, we didn’t take that chance. We need to continue working, I have to think things out on my part – that’s what I’m doing now,” told Simeone.
