Simeone is tipped to leave the Spanish side after the club’s heartbreaking Champions League defeat against┬álocal rivals Real Madrid. The Rojiblancos lost their second Champions League final in the last three seasons and both the defeats were against the same opponent. Simeone played two seasons as a central midfielder for Atletico Madrid before taking over the manager role in 2011. Famously called as ‘El Cholo,’ Diego Simeone has developed a strong emotional bond with the Calderon crowd who were begging the Argentine to stay at the club after the recent Champions League defeat. Simeone expressed his frustration in losing his second Champions League final and did not commit his future to Rojiblancos in his recent interview.

“I am thinking that I have to start thinking. It’s a logical question for you to ask after a defeat like the one we’ve suffered today.”

“We had the chance to become champions, we didn’t take that chance. We need to continue working, I have to think things out on my part – that’s what I’m doing now,” told Simeone.

After the Argentine’s frustrated comments, the Atletico faithful did everything they can to please their manager to stay at the club. Though club did not release any official statement about Simeone’s situation and were looking very confident that they can keep hold of their manager.
The latest news on the Simeone situation is┬áthe reports from England which claim that the Argentine tactician has asked the club to ‘must sign’ Diego Costa or else he will leave the club. Atletico will be convinced by Simeone’s demands since they are also interested in re-signing their former veteran forward, but the real problem will come from London. The Blues will not sell their top forward easily and it is believed that incoming boss Antoine Conte is a big admirer of Diego Costa and wants to keep the player.
Also, Chelsea failed to lure Diego Simeone from Atletico Madrid back in January when they were searching for a permanent replacement to Jose Mourinho. Simeone rejected all the offers from Chelsea, so it will be a bit hard for the Argentine to price Diego Costa away from Chelsea.
