Real Madrid want Paul Pogba: Real Madrid president Florentino Perez expressed his intentions in signing Paul Pogba of Juventus as his ‘Galactico’ signing this season but only if club manager Zinedine Zidane asks so. Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League this season, their Eleventh European title. Zidane became the second youngest manager to win the Champions League and he is the fourth man to win the Elite title as a player and as a manager.
Paul Pogba, the sensational French midfielder is one of the hot transfer targets in the market who has interest from almost all the top club in Europe. Barcelona have reportedly agreed a fee to sign the player last summer but the deal did not materialise for some reason and the Catalans were ruled out of the chase in January. On both occasions, the speculation was viral but neither the player nor the club made any official statement.
Real Madrid are one of the top teams searching for Pogba’s signature in the past, but just like their La Liga title rivals, Real Madrid was not able to negotiate any possible offers. Perez, the Real Madrid president claimed that the club has the tendency to sign the player considering his qualities on the pitch. But, the 69-year-old did not feel the transfer is easy as it sounds. He also instructed that the club will not go for the Juventus star if Zidane did not give the green signal.
“Pogba is a great player, but in midfield we have six great players, so I would not want to discuss speculation,” Perez said.
“While he excites me, it is difficult to reach agreements if there are no termination clauses. If a player such as him [Pogba] is available, we may go for him, but would have to reach an agreement.”
“It is very difficult to bring someone. I’ll talk to Zidane. Our obligation is to be much better every year. He will decide if we can get someone better than we have.”
