Manuel Pellegrini leads the candidates list to replace Roberto Martinez as Everton’s manager next season. Roberto Martinez’s future at the Goodison Park is in serious doubt after Everton’s below par season. The Magpies are 11th in the English Premier League table and may lose their precious players because of the season they had.
Manuel Pellegrini is set to leave Manchester City after the season ends with the English giants already confirmed Pep Guardiola as their next manager. Pellegrini has managed clubs including Real Madrid, Malaga, River Plate and Villareal. He has managed clubs in four different countries. Known for his calm character and direct attacking playing style, Pellegrini failed to win the English Premier League second time in a row despite the club sanctioned whatever he wanted in the summer transfers.
City already had one of the best squads in England and Pellegrini enhanced that by adding Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne in the summer transfer window. Both the players were bought for an eye catchy transfer fee. City started the campaign as one of the favorites or the first favorites to win the EPL this season, but City did not play as expected and Pellegrini’s tactics were accused heavily.
On the other hand, Martinez was given a squad which has full of quality youngsters who can join any top European club’s first team straight away. But Martinez’s poor attacking style of play with no serious intention of defending led Everton to crash out of all the cup games. Also, the Merseysiders were expected to aim for a European spot, a Champions League spot to the maximum, but all the Everton fans saw was their team struggling in the midtable.
Martinez is likely to be sacked at the end of the season and Everton are already in the market to find a better choice. Pellegrini though has offers from Spain, France, and Italy, is expected to stay in England and Everton can be his best pick of choices.
