Benni McCarthy, the former South African footballer, and a vivid Manchester United supporter has urged the Red Devils to appoint Jose Mourinho to stand toe to toe against rivals. Manchester United should appoint Jose Mourinho, the former Porto player who played under Jose Mourinho told Omnisport.

Jose Mourinho - Porto

McCarthy knew the English Premier League surroundings well and has played for English side Blackburn Rovers. McCarthy won the Champions League with Porto who were managed by Jose Mourinho, the team which brought Mourinho to the limelights. But, it is Chelsea where Jose Mourinho proved that he can be one of the best ever tacticians in the world as he won back to back English Premier League with a side who has not tasted that before. And he had the Premier League ‘boss’ Sir Alex Ferguson managing Manchester United at that time.

“I think we need somebody that will steer the ship with immediate results but also as a long-term successor.”

“The good old days of Sir Alex Ferguson are long gone.”

“I think we have to try and captivate those moments back and for me the only example I can give for someone who can get United back on that path is Jose.”

“He turned Chelsea into one of the biggest teams in Europe; he made them one of the most feared teams to play [against] and into a powerhouse and a European household name.”

“He has come to an average English team, a big name, but an average team at the time, and has turned them into world beaters.”

Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, the never-ending rivalry
McCarthy also talked about the possible reunion of Pep Guardiola – Jose Mourinho rivalry and said Manchester United can match the powers of City as they have already confirmed Pep Guardiola as their new manager, only if they bring in Jose Mourinho whom the former thinks can neutralise Pep Guardiola.
“Mourinho’s tactics and ability matches Pep Guardiola.”

“I think of the arrogance and there is enough testosterone there not to fear anything that Man City will throw at Man United next season if he goes,” McCarthy told Omnisport.

According to recent reports, Manchester United’s senior members who were against the appointment of Mourinho a month back have now taken a U-turn and are willing to sanction the deal. So we will most probably see Jose Mourinho in the Premier League¬†but in a different badge this time.
