Manchester City stall Toni Kroos chase due to wage concerns

Manchester City stall Toni Kroos chase: Manchester City’s staggering attempts to sign Real Madrid star midfielder Toni Kroos is stalled, according to The Sun. The German international is arguably the best centre midfielder in Europe right now and it will be a suicidal attempt if Real Madrid decides to offload the player. The Real Madrid No.8 is nicknamed as ‘The German Snipper’ for his accuracy in passing and his long-range goals. The former Bayern Munich star is believed to be interested in re-joining his former manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Manchester City stall Toni Kroos chase due to high wage demands

Pep Guardiola who managed Toni Kroos at Bayern Munich for a year had to sell the German after the player had a rift with the club management over a new contract extension. It was reported that Kroos wanted a salary that should match the likes of club’s highest earners but Bayern Munich were not interested. In the end, it was Bayern who stand firm and sold the player to Real Madrid for relatively a very low transfer fee. The transer fee is still considered as a ‘steal’ considering the player’s quality. At his age, the German is more complete than any of the players of his age group and is arguably the best among them.

The recent reports from The Sun claim that Manchester City believed the player is earning £120,000-per-week at the Bernabeu when they initiated their pursuit. But they learned it is £240,000-per-week, double than what they believed first. So, the Manchester City board has decided to stall the transfer talk and wants to re-access their financial conditions before taking the next step.

Toni Kroos is enjoying his life with Real Madrid who won the UEFA Champions League last season, the Eleventh European Title for Real Madrid. Also, the player is valued very high by the Real Madrid board and he is one of the ‘Galacticos’ in the team. So, it is very hard to pursue the player by convincing the Real Madrid board. But the deal may happen if the player decides to leave Real Madrid and experience the thrill in playing the most exciting league in the world, The English Premier League.
