The former Chelsea, West Ham United and Newcastle United forward Demba Ba has vowed to his fans and well-wishers that he will not retire owing to the injury he suffered. The Shenhua forward suffered a broken limb in his team’s 2-1 win over SIPG in the Shanghai Derby. The injury is without a doubt one of the worst injuries a player has suffered in the entire history of the game. Ba’s left leg was twisted very badly and it is well visible that the player’s leg was broken.
“I will not retire,” vows Demba Ba
Demba Ba received an enormous amount of support and love from Football fans around the world. Most of the fans, pundits and other people are expecting that the injury will ‘END’ the Senegal international’s career and they are not wrong. The video showing how badly Ba was injured will tell you this: It is not just an injury, it’s a career killer. But the veteran forward is not giving it up it seems. He told RMC:
“This is a really bad injury but I know I can overcome it. I won’t call time on my career, that’s for sure. They haven’t done the full operation because I told them to wait. I wanted to go to Europe to have it done but when I learned that was not possible I arranged with the doctor here to sort me out a French surgeon who should arrive shortly. He will operate on me.
There are other players who have returned from similar injuries, like Hatem Ben Arfa. Something similar happened to me earlier in my career and the treatment options are much better now. I think I’ll make a speedier return this time. The season here ends in November and the new one starts in March. I’ll do my best to return in time for the season after that.”
Demba Ba was in great form for his team in the Chinese League, scoring 14 goals in 18 games for the Shanghai-based club. We (FootballBeats Team) also wish and pray Ba a speedy recovery.
