Arsenal Transfer news – Two more signings to follow Granit Xhaka?

Arsenal Transfer news: Surprisingly it appears that Arsenal have already started getting involved in the summer transfer window rather than waiting for the transfer deadline day looking for unfamiliar and obscure players as Arsenal gaffer typically portrays himself in front of media. He has neither wasted time nor money as he has already captured the signing of currently ongoing Euros’ one of the best and impressive central midfielders Granit Xhaka for £35 million from Borussia Mönchengladbach. And Wenger’s recent comments suggest that he is looking forward to signing no more than three players at most which include Xhaka.

Last night officially, Arsene Wenger was spotted live on the touchline at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in a usual role as a pundit for French television focusing on the France-Switzerland game watching both, his national side and his new signing. While media didn’t waste much time in approaching him as they hoped that Wenger might comment something on Arsenal’s transfer activities. When asked upon the same, he replied:

We’ve already bought one player–Granit Xhaka from Monchengladbach because we’ve lost three players. We’ve lost [Mikel] Arteta, we’ve lost [Tomas] Rosicky and [Mathieu] Flamini.”

“So we’ve bought one midfielder and we’re still in the market to buy one or two more players. But it is not easy. It is not just buying. We also have to keep a good balance. If you buy too many players you destabilise your team. So three is the maximum.

Arsenal Transfer possibilities– a prolific goal scorer and a centre back?

I am sure most of the experts and fans would agree with the same as Gunners weren’t as bad last season as they have been in the past years. Arsenal had an impressive defensive record since their new goalkeeper Petr Cech won the Golden Glove for recording 16 clean sheets but they did fell short on some important occasions such as West Brom away loss, Norwich away draw, Crystal Palace home draw, Swansea home loss which does points towards the inconsistencies shown by ageing Per Mertesacker and unsettled Gabriel Paulista. So Arsenal does need a good first choice centre back who can partner Laurent Koscielny in the heart of the defence, specifically someone who is effective in aerial duels and reading the game becoming a perfect replacement to Mertesacker. It wouldn’t affect their defensive organisation much as a whole, rather it will only make them stronger. Possible targets include Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter’s Jeison Murillo while fresh rumours suggest Manchester United’s Daley Blind.

Coming onto attacking department, Arsenal were fourth best in terms of scoring goals bettered by champions Leicester City, Tottenham Spurs and Manchester City. All the mentioned teams had their strikers performing consistently and were competing among themselves for Golden Boot. Similarly, Arsenal wasn’t as bad but failing to score enough against teams such as Liverpool at home, Southampton at home, Norwich and Sunderland at away grounds, did cost them the title. So it is already obvious that Arsenal does need a prolific goal-scoring forward. Initially, possible targets included Alvaro Morata, Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Henrikh Mikhitariyan. But recently Arsenal have dealt serious blows as Mikhitariyan’s agent Mino Raiola has reported him choosing Manchester United over Arsenal. On the other hand, Wenger’s recent comment suggests that he expects Vardy to snub Arsenal move and stay at Leicester City. However, that shouldn’t stop him from searching another target as official transfer window hasn’t even started.
