Chelsea are without a doubt experiencing their worst form ever since Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovic took over the club in 2003. The West Londoners are one of the most consistent top teams in England except the 2015-16 season. The Blues started the season as the Defending Champions and finished the league without any honours. Most importantly, Chelsea finished 10th in the league. Not able to play Champions League football is not appreciable in a club who fight for Titles every year. Chelsea are planning a major revamp in the squad and it is expected that new Coach Antonio Conte will prefer the Chelsea Academy Players more. The Top 5 Chelsea Academy Players who were impressive for Chelsea’s junior teams are expected to make their mark in the senior team as well.
Chelsea hope to revive their fortunes and return to where they belong. The appointment of Antonio Conte was considered as a big gamble by a lot of people, but the Italian proved all his haters wrong with his impressive Euro 2016 campaign. Conte’s preseason with Chelsea also had mixed results, but one best thing to take a note is, the Chelsea Academy Players proved why they deserve a chance in the first team with a continued good performance.
Top 5 Chelsea Academy Players on whom The Blues can put Faith on
Chelsea fans might be wondering! Why just 5? We have more than 30 young talents in the club. The fans must realise the facts as well. If Chelsea really promote these 5 players we are going to see, then it will become one of the historic moments in the history of this big club. Chelsea Academy Players deserve CHANCES and these FIVE stand top in the list of deserving youngsters. Among the long list if players, these five players are selected based on their current position in the Chelsea pecking order.
1. Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Chelsea’s the finest academy product after John Terry! Though he does not have enough records to back this claim, the English midfielder’s potential are worthy to be mentioned. Interests on the player from top clubs like Arsenal, Juventus and Real Madrid is the proof of his talent. RLC is with Chelsea’s first team for the last two seasons and may earn his own starting berth under Antonio Conte.
Cheek was even played as a striker or a second forward by Conte in the pre-season games. The Chelsea manager told that he will continue to play Cheek as a forward but so far, RLC did not start a competitive game.
2. Ola Aina
Another most impressive English talent from Chelsea’s Youth Academy. Aina is there with Chelsea for 9 years (running) and is one of the ever-present first teamers for Chelsea U-19. He has won numerous accolades with the Chelsea second team and is now promoted to the senior side. Aina had a very impressive pre-season but is yet to receive his official senior debut for Chelsea.
3. Nathaniel Chalobah
Chelsea’s future Frank Lampard replacement ! The 21-year-old English youngster shown his quality in the preseason games and to be honest, he kept Ruben Loftus-Cheek in his shadows. Chalobah’s energy and his long-range shots received comparison with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. Though Cheek has more experience with the senior side, Chalobah’s quality performances has changed the things. Antonio Conte may give Chalobah his Chelsea senior debut this season. If Chalobah continues his impressive form, he may even steal Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s chances.
Chalobah’s future this season is not yet decided as it is expected that the talented English midfielder may leave on loan to get enough playing time. With RLC in the first team, Chalobah may not receive as much as playing time we expect him to receive.
4. Tammy Abraham
Are you a fan of English Premier League? Then you must have heard this name at least once. TAMMY ABRAHAM !! The Sensational English international who has been representing England’s National Team in various stages has caught the eyes of everyone with his blistering goalscoring record. Currently on loan at Bristol City, Abraham is expected to become Chelsea’s future No.9. Considered as England’s future star, the 18-year-old already created a fan base for himself at Chelsea. Abraham’s impressive spells has successfully erased Dominic Solanke’s image at Chelsea.
5. Jake Clarke-Salter
Jose Mourinho kept Salter in his squad for the 2015-16 and Guss Hiddink gave Salter his debut in Chelsea’s senior team. Antonio Conte retained Jake in his squad and the player wears No37. Salter is John Terry’s long-term replacement. Clearly, Salter has every chance to be the next Mr.Chelsea who has captained the Chelsea junior sides so far. Salter made his Chelsea senior debut last season and is with the current Chelsea squad.
Apart from these Top 5 Chelsea Academy Players, the Blues have a very long list of highly talented youngsters. Namely, Bertrand Traore, Charlie Musonda, Brown, Boga, Colkett, Kennedy, Todd Kane, Ake, Christensen and the list goes on.
