5 Gems Real Madrid should ‘NEVER’ lose

REAL MADRID – The Best Club of 20th Century and arguably the only club from the last century to carry on their HISTORY, TRADITION, and GLORY with them even in today’s modern football era. Except Bayern Munich, ( who also has equal tradition and are keeping their head very high in the Bundesliga ) a number of teams who competed Real Madrid in the 20th century has faded drastically. AC Milan, Liverpool FC, Ajax who were once feared by everyone on the planet is now nowhere near the standards of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or the other European Powerhouses.

Real Madrid has a truckload of talents in their squad but it is always a tough job for the young players to cement their position in a club of Real Madrid’s caliber. Madrid has such players who are not yet made their mark as a first team regular and not as a surprise they were linked with many clubs as the summer transfer window approaches. We have listed only 5 players ( Real Madrid academy have more than 5) who can make Real Madrid’s future brighter whom the Los Blancos should never lose.

5. Raphael Varane

The French defender is probably the best young centre-back in the world right now but is not a guaranteed starter at the Santiago Bernabeu. Veterans Pepe and Sergio Ramos are preferred to pair up in the center of defense irrespective of the manager. Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez and the current coach Zinedine Zidane who is a big admirer of his fellow countryman all preferred Ramos-Pepe since the pair’s understanding is too solid. Varane is mostly used as a rotational player this season and has produced a number of below par performances when he was given a chance.

Recently, in the crucial La Liga game against Valencia, Varane failed to clear a cross and set up Rodrigo (Valencia striker) to have a clean strike at goal which the latter scored with perfection. In the whole game, Varane’s performances were not to the expected level.

Although Varane is not in his best form, we can not rule out the fact that the player is a true champion when he plays his game. Varane possesses strong tackling skills, is too good when he touches the ball inside the penalty box, is very strong in the air and his timing interceptions saved Real Madrid many times. Losing Varane means, Real Madrid are ready to spend at least 50m Euros to buy a suitable replacement ! Makes no sense from a fan’s point of view.

4. Dani Carvajal

Of course, Real Madrid are not going to sell their future CAPTAIN. But the player is constantly linked with a move away from his home with Bayern Munich showing great interest in signing the former Bayer Leverkusen right-back. The Bavarian giants eye Dani Carvajal as the right replacement to Phillipe Lahm who is entering his twilight.

Dani Carvajal

Though Real Madrid has not shown a drop of interest in selling their first choice right-back, but they also did not rule any potential transfers. Real Madrid bought Brazilian fullback Danilo to compete Carvajal for the right-back position and the Spaniard is managing to run ahead of Danilo so far this season. If Danilo performs up to the expected level, then it may bring doubts over Carvajal’s future but one thing the Brazilian can’t match up with Carvajal is, the latter’s loyalty towards the club. Real Madrid can’t buy a better loyal server than Carvajal.

3. Casemiro

The Brazilian has taken Real Madrid by storm this season as he has secured a place for him in the Blancos’ string XI along with the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. The midfield trio has excelled in all the games they played as they were the reason behind Real Madrid 11 games winning streak in La Liga. The composure that Casemiro shows on the field is amazing when we consider his age. At this age, Casemiro is controlling the team’s tempo in the middle of the park and is saving Real Madrid centre-backs with his aggressive tackle and pinpoint interceptions.

Florentino Perez, the Real Madrid president is very well known for his big money signings who signs a player for a big money deal every year without considering the team’s need. Real suffered a lot recently due to poor transfers and it is feared that Casemiro can also go down as one of the ‘victims’.

2. James Rodriguez

The Colombian’s case at the Santiago Bernabeu is a mystery, to say the least. He was Real Madrid’s best attacking midfielder last season, matching La Decima hero Angel di Maria’s best season records in his very first season. But today, the player is mostly seen on the bench. Many times, James Rodriguez was an unused substitute. Lots of people say the player can not fit into the tactical plans of Rafa Benitez’s nor Zidane’s, but the hard truth is James is not the same player he was a season before.

The 2015 World Cup hero failed terribly this season in any roles he was played in. With Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema missing games throughout the season, James should have played but his poor attitude and lack of fitness forced the managers to prefer Lucas Vazquez or Jese Rodriguez.

James Rodriguez

With James Rodriguez, Real Madrid have a complete midfielder who can play anywhere in the attacking positions. His early crosses, curved shots, brilliant free-kicks are a treat to watch and the player is technically gifted than many of Real Madrid’s players. Real Madrid are reportedly eager to sell the Colombian, but we can bet that they can’t get a better player than him to fill in. Especially with Cristiano Ronaldo entering his last few years of top level football, Real Madrid will need James’ qualities more than they imagine in the future.

Real Madrid lost Arjen Robben, Mesut Ozil, and Angel di Maria for no reason and the decisions are still regretted. Selling James Rodriguez will be the next regretful decision that Real Madrid can make.

1. Keylor Navas

Can anybody neglect Navas’ contribution for Real Madrid this season ? No one can. At least no conscious human being can. Navas was bloody brilliant between the sticks for Real Madrid this season. At just 29, Navas has more fruitful years left in him and his playing position (GK) ensures he has a long way to go in his career. We can see quite a good number of shot-stoppers making a significant contribution to their teams amid crossing the 32+ age group. Gianluigi Buffon, Peter Cech are the best examples you can have.

Keylor Navas

Only one thing can endanger Navas’ future with Real Madrid and that is none other than Florentino Perez’s ‘Galactico’ policy. Real Madrid are behind David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois to replace Keylor Navas next season and both the deals make cost at least 1 50m Euros to the Madrid side. Also, such a decision will be a disrespect to Keylor Navas and to the ‘sporting spirit’ on which every sport is centered.
